Southwest Airlines Credit Card Review
by Cecil Dellison

If you like to travel and see the southwest, then you can benefit from a Southwest Airlines Credit Card. Through their Rewards program, you can earn a free flight to anywhere that the airline flies. Here is how you can benefit from having a Southwest Airlines Credit Card.

Earning Your Rewards on the Southwest Airlines Credit Card

When you first get a Southwest Airlines Credit Card, it is possible that you could immediately earn enough points to be able to get a free flight. The credit card earns two Reward Dollars for every dollar that you spend at certain places and put on your card. Purchases receive two points when you buy flight tickets, Southwest Vacation packages, Hotels and Car Rental companies listed in their program, and from purchases of Southwest giftcards.

All other purchases earn one Reward Dollar for every dollar that you spend. There is an annual fee of $59 on the credit card.

Cashing In Your Rewards on the Southwest Airlines Credit Card

Southwest Airlines uses Rapid Rewards, which are Bonus credits. Each one is worth 1,200 points. After you first get your credit card, and make a purchase, you are given 16 of these Rapid Reward Bonus credits. These credits are also given for balance transfers and you will receive one Rapid Rewards credit for every $1,200 transferred to your new card within the first 90 days, up to a maximum of $9,600 – or eight Bonus credits. Balance transfers are charged a three-percent fee.

Whenever the Southwest Airlines Credit Card owner accumulates 16 Rapid Rewards points, the company will issue a free roundtrip flight ticket. The 16 Rapid Reward points must be earned within a 24-month period.

16 Rapid Reward points are enough to get a free flight. The Award for a free flight will need to be used by you within one year. If desired, the Award may also be given to someone else.

The Airline also has a Rapid Rewards Dining Program. This program enables card owners to dine at participating restaurants, bars, and various clubs. It enables you to earn points all across the nation, and there are thousands of dining establishments to choose from. This Program requires separate registration and enables card owners to see all participating places with descriptions, locations, cuisine type, menu, price range and more.

Southwest Airlines Credit Cards for Business Available

If you want to use your Southwest Airlines Credit Card for a business, they have just the card you need. The Business Credit Card has the same benefits as the other card, but adds three attractive features that will help you. By using a separate business card, you can keep your business expenses separate. Southwest Airlines will give your employees free employee cards, and you have access to free tools to view the account online.

Check Your Southwest Airlines Credit Card Account Online

Southwest Airlines enables card owners to access their account information online. This enables you to view your current account information. You can see your transactions, your balances, your next bill due date, and your Reward points. Payments can also be made online from your account, too. Making the reservations for your Award flights can be made from your online account, as well.

For frequent flyers, Southwest Airlines offers a couple of special deals. If you fly 16 roundtrips in 12 months, this will get you a Rapid Rewards A-List status, which gives you special access to select ticket counters and security checkpoints. Another program called Companion Pass is for those who have traveled more than 50 or more roundtrips in 12 months. This Pass enables you to take one Companion for free every time you fly for up to one year.
